The Charlotte Global Shaper Hub strives to connect with and amplify the voices of our communities to promote positive local, regional, and global change. To that end, we undertake events and projects that generate positive impact in our community.
See below for descriptions of our 2018-2019 projects. Contact us if you are interested in volunteering, providing feedback or learning more about any of these projects.
In 2018 the Charlotte Global Shapers launched #ThoughtsBrewingCLT, a social initiative designed to spark conversation and connect community. The campaign’s goal is to create awareness about social issues in Charlotte and highlight local organizations tackling the issues. The initiative is executed through informational coasters in breweries and local gathering places throughout the city, and also through a digital campaign on several social media channels. Join the conversation on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The Charlotte Global Shapers are partnering with the Ultreia Society to host the third annual Charlotte Student Entrepreneur Summit, which provides an opportunity for local Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) students to connect with entrepreneurs, local business owners, and community leaders. This conference-style experience helps students explore entrepreneurship, learn about alternative career paths, and connect with local business leaders.
Charlotte Shaper Community Consulting – Carolina Farm Trust
The Charlotte Shapers are partnering with Carolina Farm Trust (CFT) to offer a suite of pro-bono consulting services to support CFT’s mission of building a sustainable food system that feeds everyone in Charlotte. A team of Shapers designed eight targeted professional development sessions to support CFT in a number of their organization’s key areas. The ultimate goal of this partnership is to help CFT clarify their vision, mission, and sustainable business model by late 2019.
In partnership with the Levine Museum of the New South and Charlotte Storytellers, the Charlotte Global Shapers will host a series of storytelling workshops for high school youth from underrepresented communities. The workshops will teach youth the art of storytelling, culminating in submissions by participating youth of their written and oral stories to the Levine Museum for #HomeCLT, an exhibit exploring the neighborhoods and communities of Charlotte. The workshops will provide youth with the opportunity to share their stories while fostering leadership development among the next generation of community shapers.Follow us on social media:
